Has anyone gotten constipation from Paxil?
I’ve only been on Paxil for about a week and I’m experiencing slight problems. Everyone says it may cause constipation, but I want to know if that occurs often, or only for certain cases. And also, how long would it last?

It causes constipation in some people but not all. Sometimes it’s temporary, sometimes not. Take it with an extra glass of water to help prevent it. If you do get constipated I recommend a warm water enema. It works wonders in no time.
It varies all over the place. According to the prescribing information, as many as 15% of people have this problem, but almost no one finds it bad enough to stop taking the Paxil. (Sleepiness and nausea were the most common reasons people quit.) It does tend to get better over time, but there’s no guarantees.
If you find it helpful but the side effects are intolerable, often you can switch to one of the similar drugs out there and get better results.
