what causes an elderly gentleman to slow down overnight. slowness of gait, bent over stature, confusion?

Within a matter of 2 months he looked like he had aged 10 years. Is always cold, doesn’t sleep, constipation, no appetite. there must be a diagnosis for this change in my dad

Take him to a doctor and tell him or her that. Make sure they check for depression!!! That can be very hard on older people.

You need to take your dad to the doctor.

It is possible he has suffered a series of minor strokes, but please don’t take advice from a web-site in lieu of proper medical care. Either you take him or get someone more responsible to go with him. He needs to get a check-up and treatment, ASAP.

It is a terrible thing to watch old people suffer & even worse to be one of the sufferers.

Good luck !

There is a TV commercial about this.It has something to do with water on the brain.

It has all the symptoms you mentioned and is easy to cure.

Talk to a good doctor and about the water on the brain.

I wish you both the best.

Parkisons disease. Was he ever a welder or work with maganese eg. fertilizer. ? He doesn’t have to, but it’s one reason for this disease. I’m sorry for your dad’s problems. I worked with this metal which is why I’m scared I will get this one day. My best wishes for your family.

Could this be failure to thrive? Has he lost a loved one or friend around the time this all began? Have you tried talking to him about it? This could also be depression which is very common in the elder population.
Maybe vascular dementia from mini-strokes? You really should take him to the doctor.

Tell him to take vitamins, might be just old age getting to him.

He may have had a stroke or a series of small strokes. You really should be asking his doctor.
