Stomach always growling…?
My stomach growls constantly and it’s really embarassing, especially during class. The noise seems to come from my intestinal area and is usually a deep rumbling.
It occured to me it might be IBS, but the only symptom I have is the growling stomach. I don’t have constipation or pain, although I do pass gas more than most people.
This is starting to become a big psychological problem for me and my performance in school isn’t as good as it once was because I haven’t been able to concentrate.
I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to stop the growling or if there was any medication I could take. Thanks.

Excess gas is usually something you’re eating not agreeing with you. I used to have a problem with having a lot of gas, so I’ve read into it.
Your body digests your food in your stomach and small intestines. If food gets to your large intestine undigested or improperly digested, it will create gas. There can be a lot of common foods that will cause this, it just depends on what it is your body isn’t digesting. For me, it ended up being celiac disease which is an intolerance to gluten (wheat, rye, barley and oats), but it can be many other foods; soy, dairy, eggs, corn, yeast can all cause problems.
Take a look at this link about celiac disease -
http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/celiac/
It’s common to have only a couple symptoms, or even no symptoms at all. It’s also a genetic disease, so if others in your family have these symptoms, it may be something to look into.
If celiac starts ringing bells for you go to http://www.glutenfreeforum.com or http://www.celiacforums.com
If that doesn’t sound like what’s going on, I would look into a good digestive enzyme. If you ask at a healthfood store, they should be able to recommend one. It will help break down most foods so that the gas would be lessened.
Hope you improve soon.
