Bright red blood in stool - should I go to the doctor?
About 3 days ago I was constipated and when I finally went to the bathroom there was a little bit of bright red blood with the stool. It didn’t really concern me at first but now I’m getting kind of scared. I have felt bloated since the day I was constipated and have had a dull pain in my stomach as well. I have been to the bathroom twice since the constipation and each time there was the bright red blood again, the last time it seemed like there was quite a bit of it (it turned the water bright red). Here’s the thing, I have no insurance and have been unemployed for 4 months…can’t even pay my bills right now. Plus I have major anxiety problems, just the thought of going to the doctors or hospital pretty much sends me in to a full blown anxiety attack. I am deathly afraid of doctors. But I’m also scared about this…Could I be like internally bleeding or something? I want to wait to see if it goes away on it’s own but I’m also afraid if I wait it might get worse. Also, is there anything I can do to reduce the risk of bleeding? I really need some advice!

go asap
Take a deep breath & RELAX. you have a hemroid, no big deal.
Improve your diet, eat more fiber & less red meat. You want to soften the stool so it passes easily and doesn’t rip tissue.
A little bright red blood is nothing to worry about. Dark red/black blood indicates bleeding in the colon. That is something to worry about.
yes you should because just resently i felt pain and i thought it was nothing until i went to my doctor and they told me i have a broken bone
yes you need to see a doctor. you do not need to have insurance to be seen by a doctor. they are there to help you. as for the anxiety, it is normal to feel anxious if you see blood coming from some part of your body that it’s not supposed to be comming from. go asap
This is why I love Canada. I can walk into the emergency room, have whatever I needed looked at checked out by a doctor, and leave without paying a dime. I would suggest getting it checked out, but honestly I really don’t understand what kind of financial effect that would have. I always put health first, but I guess you don’t have the luxury of not having to worry about money (for health care anyway).
Just go….ask questions….get answers =]
Go to the doctor right away.
Blood in the stool can be bright red, maroon in color, black and tarry, or occult (not visible to the naked eye). Causes of blood in stool range from harmless, annoying conditions of the gastrointestinal tract such as hemorrhoids to serious conditions such as cancer. Blood in the stool should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.
Yes,there could actually be a number of reasons that it is.It might be a hemmeriod..:( and those can be very painful if not taken care of as soon as they are noticed. But i’m not a doctor so I advise you to go immediatly.
Go to the Dr. if you have no insurance, there are public medical clinics for people with no insurance, they charge very little, and are as good as any Doctor.
If you had internal bleeding, it would show up as black in your stool.
I would suspect that you either have a hemorrhoid
or when you were constipated, you injured your anus or made it raw and that is what is bleeding.
One way to find out where it’s coming from is before you have your next bowel movement, hold a white kleenex up to your anus with moderate pressure. If the kleenex comes out bright red, that’s probably it…and it will heal in a few days.
Altho, it is extremely important that you keep your bowels open (and NOT with laxatives.)
Eat high fiber foods and drink lots of water…..eat spinach, sauerkraut, prune juice, all bran cereal, get some Metamucil and take it every night for a week. But it is very important to drink at least 5 large glasses of water per day.
If the bleeding does not stop within a week, or it becomes more or darker, you must seek medical help.
did you eat trix cearel? if not go to the doctor have a freind or relitive go with you so its not so hard.
