I need some help I have acid reflux and feel that I am well informed on the subject but I need help It hurts!?
I went the the doctor he prescribed prevacid 30 days I took one pill then decided to wait on it because I was feeling better. I haven’t started the regimen because before I had constipation so bad that i couldn’t pass gas I am better know but still have bouts of acid reflux to the point of gagging and choking, the more I Read the more I wonder.Ironically not enough acid is the real problem along with possible pancreatic problems or not enough bile released for digestion. Im taking gas pills mylanta and took pepcid twice. A long term acid reflux medication regimen is dangerous your acid is the first line of defense against virus and bacteria long term use puts you at risk for cancer pneumonia the list goes on. What should I do I know its linked to something else I have had a stomach ultrasound it came back ok but that test isn’t reliable in terms of gastrointestinal disorders. Doctors keep telling me im ok they give me pills that will help but in the long term they are problematic what the hell should I do?

Bright red blood in stool - should I go to the doctor?
About 3 days ago I was constipated and when I finally went to the bathroom there was a little bit of bright red blood with the stool. It didn’t really concern me at first but now I’m getting kind of scared. I have felt bloated since the day I was constipated and have had a dull pain in my stomach as well. I have been to the bathroom twice since the constipation and each time there was the bright red blood again, the last time it seemed like there was quite a bit of it (it turned the water bright red). Here’s the thing, I have no insurance and have been unemployed for 4 months…can’t even pay my bills right now. Plus I have major anxiety problems, just the thought of going to the doctors or hospital pretty much sends me in to a full blown anxiety attack. I am deathly afraid of doctors. But I’m also scared about this…Could I be like internally bleeding or something? I want to wait to see if it goes away on it’s own but I’m also afraid if I wait it might get worse. Also, is there anything I can do to reduce the risk of bleeding? I really need some advice!

How do I get a doctor to take me seriously about possible hyperthyroidism?
I suffer from bipolar disorder and some doctors haven’t taken me seriously in the past simply because of that diagnosis.
I was complaining to my mom about increasingly frequent menstrual periods and she recommended that I have my thyroid checked because of other surrounding symptoms that have been getting worse and the fact that she was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Hyperthyroidism is extremely common on her side of the family, particularly in the women.
This is why I think I may have hyperthyroidism.
In the past year and a half I have dropped from a 130 lbs to 95 lbs yet my appetite and eating habits still remain the same.
I’ve been dealing with unusual menstrual cycles; I only go about a week and a half between periods and my periods are VERY heavy.
My heart races all the time and I sweat like crazy but I don’t feel panicked. My husband says that my body always feels very hot to the touch. I don’t get much caffeine other than a regular sized mug of half strength coffee every morning to balance out the drowsiness from my mood stabilizer. I even tried skipping the coffee for a few days and nothing changed.
My hands have started to tremble despite reducing caffeine. Its a very fine, mild trembling. I was trying to fix the ice maker on my fridge last week and my hands trembled so much I couldn’t hold the small sized wrenches I was using steady enough to get them around the nuts and bolts to actually turn them in a timely manner.
I have trouble sleeping too. For the past year and a half, since the weight loss started, I’ve needed a small dose of a sedative to help me sleep despite not getting any caffeine after 12:00 PM.
Basically the only symptoms I have that could be attributed to bipolar disorder would be the insomnia, and irritability. They both could go either way though.
I don’t believe this is being caused by my mood stabilizer because of the low risk of side effects from this particular medication. The actual side effects are pretty much limited to constipation, ataxia (slight lack of balance) and possible sodium deficiency.
I’ve had problems in the past where doctors have told me that my symptoms were psychosomatic when I was actually sick. One doctor about 3 years ago told me that I was just over-blowing the pain from my sore throat without checking anything when I actually had a raging case of strep, diagnosed by another doctor at the ER 3 days later.
Since then and an unfortunate experience with a gynecologist who told me that my heavy cycles were being caused by my medication (when there is no scientific evidence whatsoever that Trileptal causes irregular periods and this doctor did not even know that it (along with many other anti-convulsant and psychotropic medications) also reduces the effectiveness of birth control pills) so I just shouldn’t bother with it. I’ve been very apprehensive to go to a doctor for physical symptoms because I’m afraid of being blown off and subsequently embarrassed. I’m a very intelligent person who doesn’t stretch the truth so it’s kind of a put down when a doctor doesn’t take me seriously.
I’m not a hypochondriac by any means; I HATE being in the hospital! I had a surgery last year to correct sunken chest syndrome and the 4 days I spent in the hospital were not fun to say the least. In that case because I was seeing a doctor for a plainly visible physical deformity I wasn’t as afraid of being judged. The thoracic surgeon took one look at me and instantly said that it was bad enough to require surgery. The CT scan showed further evidence to prove that surgery was necessary ASAP.
I’m actually so afraid of being blown off (thinking why even go to a doctor if he’s not going to listen to me) that I tend to seek medical treatment when things have gotten so bad that I’m having serious medical problems.
Any advice?
No radon in my house Vaughn. Its 20 years old and is of standard frame construction. I actually bought it back in December and the symptoms started back in 2008 when I was living in a string of rented apartments while transitioning a move from Wilmington, DE to Huntsville, AL and have gotten worse since.

Mucous-ish stool after taking "dangerous" antibiotics?
So this is kinda freaking me out. Last week I had a Dentist appt and since I have a heart murmur they made me take antibiotics.. And since I’m allergic to the kind they usually give, they gave me a different kind. After I took the four pills I read a warning that said only take these for SEVERE INFECTIONS(and this was supposed to be just a prevention) and that there was a risk of fatal intestinal problems and the signs were diarrhea, constipation and just intestinal/stool abnormality. Well now I just went number 2 and I couldn’t tell if it was diarrhea or the mucous in the toilet but when I wiped it was just GREEN MUCOUS(no stool) with a little bit of red(maybe blood?), kinda like I had just blown my nose. I had some potentially partially raw ground beef(from meatballs) today(she told me AFTER I ate it that she found a little bit of raw meat in hers). Does this sound more like food poisoning or something you’ve never heard of(complications with drug)?

im really worried about something?
i was reading someone elses question and someone posted these symptoms of being underweight and i have a alot of them: what should i do??
these were the symptoms:
Physical
* Stunted growth
* Endocrine disorder, leading to cessation of periods in girls (amenorrhoea)
* Decreased libido; impotence in males
* Starvation symptoms, such as reduced metabolism, slow heart rate (bradycardia), hypotension, hypothermia and anemia
* Abnormalities of mineral and electrolyte levels in the body
* Thinning of the hair (makes your hair look weird and ugly)
* Growth of lanugo hair over the body
* Constantly feeling "cold"
* Zinc deficiency
* Reduction in white blood cell count
* Reduced immune system function (increases chance of getting several diseases, usually harmless diseases like flue may put your health at risk)
* Pallid complexion and sunken eyes
* Creaking joints and bones
* Collection of fluid in ankles during the day and around eyes during the night
* Tooth decay
* Constipation
* Dry skin
* Dry or chapped lips
* Poor circulation, resulting in common attacks of ‘pins and needles’ and purple extremities
* In cases of extreme weight loss, there can be nerve deterioration, leading to difficulty in moving the feet
* Headaches
* Brittle fingernails
* Bruising easily
Psychological
* Distorted body image
* Poor insight
* Self-evaluation largely, or even exclusively, in terms of their shape and weight
* Pre-occupation or obsessive thoughts about food and weight
* Perfectionism
* Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
* Belief that control over food/body is synonymous with being in control of one’s life
* Refusal to accept that one’s weight is dangerously low even when it could be deadly
* Refusal to accept that one’s weight is normal, or healthy
Emotional
* Low self-esteem and self-efficacy
* Intense fear about becoming overweight
* Clinical depression or chronically low mood
* Mood swings
Some of these causes of being underweight may sometimes not occur before you get older. Like for example bone problems.
Other causes are loss of menstruation, risk of becoming sterile, stomach pain, delayed/abnormal puberty and wounds will also heal slower, and easier get infected, due to a weak immune system.

What happens if you take laxatives for too long?
I have a bunch of health problems including a chronic constipation. I’ve been taking Miralax twice a day, two tablets of peri-colace each day, and it hasn’t been helping much. I go to the bathroom abotu once a day, but it’s basically only because of the medicine. I’ve been taking them for moret than three weeks, and the constipation isn’t getting any better (please don’t give me a list of things I can do to help it go away.. I’ve already tried everything). Recently my stomach’s been hurting a lot, from below my breasts all the way down. It’s making my already severe insomnia worse, and it won’t go away. I’m not sure if it’s a side-effect of the Prednisone I’m taking, but I took an extra Prevacid and that didn’t help a bit.. So what are the risks for using laxatives for an extended period of time?

Stomach disorder diagnosis required?
Hi friends,
I have been diagnosed with a suspected duodenal ulcer. Camera test endoscopy showed only gastric erosions on stomach wall. However, I get no acid reflux, no burning sensation,
just a slight pounding and pain in my lower stomach. H.Pylori test was initially lost then found, and they said it was negative, so I’m not sure what to believe on this one.
2 years I’ve been on and off Omeprazole. My stomach/intestines will be fine for 6 weeks, eating anything I like. Then over a period of 2 weeks my appetite will slowly decrease to
the point where my stomach pain is too much that I can’t risk eating for 2/3 weeks approx. During this last Only the last 3 weeks of an episode do I get very bad IBS type
symptoms, trapped wind, but no diorreaha or bloating. Guessing this could be a result of the ulcer causing food to not be digested properly and being pushed through the
intestine/bowels and causing constipation and things to lock up. But………..
unlike IBS it doesn’t matter what I eat, everything causes the pain from my lower stomach to my lower bowels,
wh. The Omeprazole does reduce the pain in my stomach, but not in the intestines, etc. I think!
When my stomach gets back to normal eventually, I don’t get any IBS type symptoms, I go to toilet properly every day, and I can eat what I like.
I’m a fit person, attend the gym, don’t get colds/flus, don’t smoke, only drink on a Saturday night (2 glasses of wine, 3 pints, 2/3 shots over a period of 6 hours however). I’m a
healthly weight with 9% bodyfat, a stone of extra muscle due to the gym and feel very strong and healthy normally. My diet is usually better than the average person. Salads,
fibre, protein, lower carbs and lower fat than the norm diet. I take multi-vitamins, cod liver oil capsules every other day. Only other medication is Nasonex Nose Spray from
dust/dustmite allergy, which I carefully administer as to not sniff it past my nose. Helps me…..
sleep better.
I’m seeing my GP (who is sympathetic and friendly) to see if I can get a triple pill combination (omep, amoxycillin, etc) to go with my Omeprazole to ensure that H.Pylori is
eradicated.
I had admit myself to hospital (emergency assessment unit) as the pain was getting me down too much and stopped in over night and have some IV painkillers and Buscopan. The
specialist then saw me the next day as he was on general unit duty luckily. However, he told me to come back in 6 weeks to have another camera test! Why not do it then when I have
the worst symptoms???
Just trying to get a more definitive answer on this one, and have made this as detailed as possible. My current specialist is very unsympathetic and can’t wait to get me out the
door when I have an appointment with him. Even though I have weeks of misery waiting to be seen due to NHS waiting lists. I’m taking too much time off work and will lose my job
shortly. Quality of life is very poor…
when I’m ill like this.
Thanks in advance,
Lee.

Steve, I wouldn’t say I’m stressed really. I’m not a particulary happy person in general.
Trouble is with this condition is that it could be so many things ![]()

Colon/bowel problems?
Due to severe pain in my colon/bowels, my doctor wants to do a colonoscopy. He wants to check for abnormalities such as polyps and I have read that some polyps in the colon or bowel could be cancerous.
How common is it for young people under 30 to get colon/bowel cancer? I’m only 27. Especially if my diet hasn’t been as healthy as it should have been. I eat a lot of red meat, I am also guilty of not eating enough fibre and have problems with constipation and straining with bowel movements, which I have read are all risks of getting colon/bowel cancer.

I think I am having IBS-Constipation, urination/sexual difficulties. Does anybody have advice?
I am 28 and trying to get to the bottom of a problem I have been having and hope someone can help. I will try to be as specific as possible. I went through an extremely stressful period earlier this year and started to have constipation problems. They werent severe for the first couple months so I kind of ignored them. My diet wasnt exactly great during that period as I was often on the run and had to eat whatever I could get my hands on. Over time, I developed a very slight weakening of my stream when urinating. I would have to wait several moments until after finishing to be sure that everything was out or risk dripping after zipping up. One day maybe a month ago, I had one day where I had a burning sensation all through my lower abdomen coupled with gas that seem to be streaming all around that area. The next morning I went to the doctor and after various checks, was put on an IV relaxant of some sort and given a similar medication along with a powder-based laxative. Later that night I had a bowel moment that was obviously very old stool and mostly had diarrhea for the short term thereafter.
Things seemed mostly fine for about a week after that but then I had kept finding that I really had to strain and struggle to pass stool in even the smallest amount. My urination problems worsened, my erections weakened, and my sex drive has plummeted. I decided to drammatically increase my intake of fiber and it completely solved the constipation problem. I have had between 1 and 3 bowel movements every single day for the past week and a half or so. None of these are diarrhea-like though the consistency is often a combination of softer, loose (fresher) stool and what appears to be harder, pebbly, older stool. I have felt good about solving the constipation problem but I continue to have gas/bloating problems that come and go and the the urination/erectile dysfunction problems are continuing with the latter being the biggest concern for me right now due to just starting a new relationship.
I am kind of wondering if anybody has any advice. Since I had this problem before… about two years and was at that time diagnosed with IBS-C… I am pretty sure thats why I have. Where I am confused is what I should expect from here on out. I read that the erectile problems could be from straining of certain muscles due to the recent increase in bowel movements or it could be the movement of backed up fecal matter pushing against my prostrate bladder. The erectile dysfunction is by far the newest symptom (less than two weeks) and I can sometimes get up to 90% strength with the erection failing quicker than usual. Last time I had these problems, I didnt really know that I had IBS and it took a long to recover but I eventually did and exhibited no symptoms or problems for a long time. Any advice would be appreciated but I kind of wonder if anybody thinks that once the backed stool is completely purged if I can expect to see a gradual improvement in libido/sexual function/urination regularity or if I need to really get on the doctor to do something about it. I live overseas so I have to communicate with my doctor in a second language which is why I am seeking internet advice. If anybody has any advice or anything I am in you debt. Thanks in advance.
